What file format and sample rate should I send you for mastering?

Please export your final mix at the same sample rate and bit depth you recorded/mixed at (e.g., 24-bit/48kHz or 24-bit/96kHz). Do not convert the sample rate before sending. WAV or AIFF is preferred

How loud should my mix be before mastering?

Accepted Answer

Your mix should have healthy dynamics. As a rule of thumb, the loudest part of your song (the chorus or drop) should peak between -6dB and -3dB on your master fader. This is called "headroom." It is totally fine if the quieter parts (intros/verses) peak lower. If your mix is already peaking at 0dB and heavily limited, I may ask you to re-export with the limiter turned off.

Can you master a track that was mixed in headphones or an untreated room?

Absolutely. A large part of our job is correcting frequency imbalances. If you know your room is bass-light, your mix might be bass-heavy. During mastering, I use a full-range, calibrated monitoring system to detect these issues and re-balance the low end, harsh mids, or dull highs so your track translates well on any system (clubs, earbuds, car stereos).

What is the difference between Stereo Mastering and Stem Mastering?

Stereo Mastering: You send us a single stereo WAV file of your mix. We process the entire song as a whole. This is the industry standard.Stem Mastering: You send us grouped tracks (e.g., 1. Drums, 2. Instruments, 3. Vocals). This gives us more control to fix issues (like a vocal that gets buried). It costs more and takes longer, but is recommended if you are unsure about your mix balance.

What is the turnaround time?

Standard turnaround is usually 24-72 hours for a single track.  If you are booking an album or EP, we will agree on a specific schedule before starting.

What is your revision policy?

Accepted Answer

Mastering is a dialogue. Our goal is to nail the sound you hear in your head. We offer 3 rounds of free revisions with every master. As long as the revision notes are reasonable (e.g., "the low end is too heavy," "the vocal sounds a bit dull"), there is no extra charge. If the mix changes drastically, a re-master fee may apply.

Why shouldn't I just use an AI mastering website?

AI mastering applies a preset curve based on an algorithm. It cannot listen to your song emotionally. I listen for the "intent"—is the vocal the star? Is the bass supposed to be aggressive? We make micro-adjustments based on the genre and the story of the song. Furthermore, we provide objective quality control (catching clicks, pops, or phase issues) that an algorithm often misses.
